YOUR JOURNEY STARTS HERE

A warm welcome to

Hampden Gurney
CofE Primary School

From our Headteacher, Evelyn Chua.

We are a one form entry Church of England primary school with approximately 240 pupils on role.  The School has served the City of Westminster since 1863.

Our school’s vision is deeply rooted in its motivation to provide a first-class and spiritual experience for every child at Hampden Gurney.  We want our children to be able to recognise their individual talents and gifts.  We want them to shine with confidence, experience new challenges and be enriched by their thirst for knowledge and wisdom. Most of all, we want our children to be happy, resilient and reverent learners, and to be the best they can be.

Strong and steady leadership and governance is a key feature of the school’s success; a school led with a clear vision and direction.  Hampden Gurney benefits from the dedicated and committed team of staff who are highly skilled, trained and motivated to provide the learning opportunities to enthuse and inspire our children.

Our curriculum is sequentially designed to develop children’s creative thinking skills, spirituality, self-confidence and the ability to build on what they have learnt before.

Inclusion is at the heart of the school. We pride ourselves in raising awareness of equalities and fundamental human rights, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.  Our curriculum design is carefully considered to ensure that all our children will receive the skills, knowledge, norms and values to equip them for future society.

We work in partnership with parents and carers and very much value the support and contribution they make to the work and life of the school. The school also enjoys a close relationship with our Parish Church of the Annunciation. Because of our strong links between the home, school and parish, we are able to provide a happy, caring and inspirational learning environment, where all of our children can flourish and excel.

‘Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find.

Knock, and it will be opened for you.’ – Matthew 7:7

Our school vision is deeply rooted in the theology and Biblical teachings of Matthew 7:7 which speaks of the importance of prayer as a way of developing an enriched life and personal relationship with God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

At the heart of our school community is a commitment to prayer and worship. Our curriculum provides children with a thirst for knowledge and wisdom, a high level of challenge and a deep understanding that we are all equal and made in the image of God. Our relationships with each other, our local community and global companions leads us to want to care and serve others.
