Infants are in class for a minimum of 21 hours and Juniors for a minimum of 23.5 hours per week. We expect that all parents will endeavour to have children in school during term time unless there are extenuating circumstances.
If a child is absent from school, parents must inform the school in person if possible or by a written note or telephone call. It is vital that you give the reasons for your child’s absence to the teacher or Headteacher.
Parents are encouraged to make sure that their children arrive in the playground at least five minutes before the bell is rung to signal the start of the morning session. The playground is supervised 15 minutes before and after school. All pupils must leave the school grounds by 3.45pm unless there is a club meeting or by prior arrangement. Please do not send children to school too early, as we will not be able to supervise them.
Pupils arriving late will be noted in the late book and may be required to make up the time lost from education during first play or lunch breaks.
Should a child have an appointment with the doctor or dentist, please let the school know the day before or at the earliest possibility. Parents, however, should endeavour to make appointments out of school hours or during the school holidays.
Parents are not permitted to take their children out of school for holidays during term time except under exceptional circumstances when permission has been authorised by the Headteacher. The Headteacher does not have to approve any request. Parents should note that exceeding any approved statutory time period or failure to notify the school in advance of the absence may result in the child being removed from the school roll.
