Please be aware that when choosing a school winter coat for your child they should be able to take it on and off very easily, as their coats are worn on the play decks in winter months. The coat should be hard-wearing and not delicate as it could be damaged in day-to-day wear and tear. Please remember to clearly label the coat with your child’s name.

Winter Coat

The school uniform does not specify a school winter coat. There is an optional Navy Blazer that can be purchased from Reception onwards.

Labelling all personal property

All clothing should be clearly labelled. In particular ties, scarves, gloves, shoes, undergarments and vests tend to be the items most often misplaced.

Lost Property

Any lost property is placed in the Lost Property Box located near the Forset Street entrance. Children changing for after-school clubs commonly leave clothing in the assembly hall. Any unclaimed lost property will be sold by the PTA at the Second Hand Uniform Sales or donated to charity at regular intervals – at least once a year.

Jewellery and hair

Items of jewellery are unsuitable for primary school pupils to wear during the school day. Rings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches and earrings should be left at home.

A number of pupils have pierced ears. Please ensure that these pupils wear only studs to school. Earrings can be dangerous for the wearer and for other children if they catch them during physical activity, particularly P.E. and Games. Any other piercing is not permitted, e.g. nose and eyebrow. Hair that is shoulder length or longer needs to be tied back or secured with an Alice band. Small hair bands, scrunchies and slides should be red, navy, grey, black or white.

Second Hand Uniform Sales

The PTA holds second-hand uniform sales at various times throughout the year.

Nursery Spare Clothes

There is a selection of spare clothes in the Nursery (sweatshirts, underpants etc.) that are used when children have accidents or spills. It may be worth packing a spare set of underpants etc. in the first week or two as children can be unsettled in a new environment and routine.

Old uniform items may be donated to the class or to the PTA for resale.
