Headteacher's Christmas Message
We have come to the end of a long term and the whole school community is looking forward to a well-earned rest. The prospect of Christmas cheers us and lifts our spirits away from the cold, dark and depressing weather of the season.
Spiritually, we have been preparing the pupils for Christmas in our Advent assemblies and through our Understanding Christianity reflections which have been used by teachers during Religious Education sessions. We celebrated this holy season with our Christmas Mass at the Church of the Annunciation on Thursday.
This term has been packed with activities, visitors into school and educational visits outside school. This has all been in addition to our staff and pupils working diligently to fulfil the national curriculum requirements and the Yr 6 pupils earnestly in their preparation for their secondary entrance examinations and transfers.
The highlights of this term were the amazing Christmas productions from our EYFS, KS1 and 2, where over 200 parents attended to support the pupils’ fantastic performances: acting, singing and dancing. It was absolutely delightful to watch the confidence in our pupils and the smiles on their faces during these special moments!
I am sure that you would like to join with me in thanking all of the staff and governors at Hampden Gurney School for their tremendous hard work and commitment to the pupils of the school over the years.
We would also wish to take this opportunity to thank all our parents at Hampden Gurney, especially our PTA Chair, Mrs Daley and the outstanding PTA committee members. The Staff and I are most grateful for your continued hardwork, dedication, time and efforts to support the school. Thank you!
On behalf of everybody at Hampden Gurney School, we wish you, your family and the pupils a joyous and peaceful Christmas and every blessing for the New Year.
Mrs Evelyn Chua
