Welcome message

A warm welcome from our Headteacher Mrs Evelyn Chua

It is a great privilege for me to have the opportunity of leading a team of enthusiastic, professional and dedicated staff who aim to create a school where every pupil will flourish. From the outset the school has established a tradition of an education underpinned by a Christian ethos, providing individuals with stimulating intellectual challenges and wide ranging opportunities to develop personal excellence. The encouragement of individual enthusiasms and creativity within the security of the school community continues to be a trademark of learning at Hampden Gurney.

Hampden Gurney School has enjoyed consistently excellent results in Literacy, Numeracy and Science. The commitment to hard work by both staff and pupils and the recognition of each pupil’s ability are the principle reason for this success.

The school was praised in an outstanding Ofsted report in May 2009 and has been recognised by gaining a range of other awards including the NACE Challenge Award and Healthy Schools status.

To achieve our aims, teamwork is essential. I believe very strongly in a close partnership between the school staff, parents and pupils. This is the way in which effective teaching and learning takes place. I have placed teamwork at the heart of my very happy years as Headteacher of Hampden Gurney School.

Our school building offers state of the art educational provision to meet the requirements of the 21st century. The talented and committed team of teaching and support staff help to ensure that every pupil in the school is valued and cherished. The quality of relationships between pupils and between staff and pupils is one of which we are rightly proud. We aim to make certain that our school is a place where all pupils will be challenged, happy and able to make an individual contribution to the success of the school. I warmly invite you to visit Hampden Gurney School and look forward to welcoming you and working with parents and pupils to achieve continuing success.
