Hampden Gurney Church of England Primary School, is our school, we all have our part to play and we need your help.
We provide children from a wide range of backgrounds the chance to get a first-rate primary school education.
However, we face a challenge in this. As a result of the cost of living crisis and the fact our budget has not increased enough to reflect this, we are now currently working with a deficit budget, which is not a position we have been in before.
See our chart below to understand how our school is funded, and where your donations are currently going. While we have you, please read below to find out exactly how you can help.
Four things our parents need to know:
- The Budget is set by the Government. Write to your MP and ask why schools are struggling to cover costs
- The costs have trebled across daily necessities like power, gas, catering, bought in services
- It is important to understand this is not a call to redirect funds away from the PTA giving, because this will result in the loss of: Specialist Music, Art, PE teachers; curriculum & play resources; subsidising of residential trips, class trips, theatre visits; special projects
- Our staffing costs have increased year on year, and therefore we have been unable to replace important support staff
Actions you can take:
- Pay the requested voluntary amount to The School Maintenance Fund (see the School Gateway app ‘2025 HG Voluntary School Maintenance Fund, (suggested £50 per child)
GIVING
- Sign up for the PTA Regular Giving
- Sign up for regular Matched Giving via your employer, with monies going to the PTA
- Voluntary donations to the PTA
- Volunteer for the PTA; Support our school events, it’s lots of fun and helps the school
- All of the above!
- Consider making a voluntary donation to the school – it’s tax deductible. You can do this via the SchoolGateway app
